Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or University Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application procedure.

Applications are now open and can shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant should meet the following requirements:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who arises from a house having a combined gross house earnings that does not exceed R350 000 for each annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined home earnings doesn't exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and want not post any proof of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent inhabitants from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.

Applicants are reminded to supply the correct Identity Doc numbers, names, and surname, as reflected in their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are finding out or intend to research at a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid nsfas 2025 delays in the processing of their application.
